DAO (downward mouth corners)

The depressor anguli oris (DAO) muscle runs from the corners of the mouth downward toward the chin. When this muscle is overactive, it pulls the mouth corners down, creating a chronically sad, stern, or tired expression — even when you're relaxed. DAO Botox involves placing a precise neurotoxin injection into this muscle to reduce its downward pull, allowing the corners of the mouth to return to a neutral or slightly lifted position. The treatment is particularly effective for patients who notice their mouth looking downturned at rest. Treatment time is approximately 30 minutes. Results appear within 7–10 days and last 3–4 months on average. Many patients combine DAO Botox with lip filler or a liquid facelift for a comprehensive lower-face refresh.
